Twitter Blue
Twitter Blue, currently known as X Premium, is a Twitter subscription service announced on June 3, 2021. Twitter Blue originally was created as a way for users to have extra tools to enhance their Twitter experience.[1] The announcement blog post had revealed three main features to come to the service: bookmark folders, undo tweet, and reader mode. This also came with other less important features, customizable app icons, and color themes. Twitter Blue users also had access to dedicated customer service.
On November 5, 2022, under Elon Musk, among the previous features that were originally a part of the subscription service, the beautiful blue check became a paid subscription.[2] This was told to be in an effort to "democratize the platform"[3] somehow. Democracy is when $8 blue checks. On August 5, 2023, in the midst of Twitter being rebranded to X, Twitter Blue died, and X Blue was born. Then it became X Premium, because there is no blue in the X branding.
